1. Getting Started
How do I add my child's school? +
Tap the Children tab at the bottom of the screen, then tap the + button in the top right. Search for your school by name and we'll find the calendar automatically.
Can I add multiple children at different schools? +
Yes — that's the whole point. The free tier covers one child; Scholly Pro supports up to four. They can be at different schools or the same school, and each child's holidays show in their own colour on the main calendar.
Can I add my own events? +
Yes — with Scholly Pro you can add your own events (like football practice, music class or family days) alongside your school calendars. Tap the + in the top right of the Home screen and choose Add Event, set a start and end date, and optionally get a reminder the evening before. Your events appear in their own colour under the My Events filter.
Is Scholly Pro shared with my family? +
Yes. Scholly Pro supports Family Sharing, so a single subscription can be shared with your household through your App Store or Google Play family group.
When does the academic year switch over? +
Scholly automatically switches to the new academic year on 15 July. Most Irish schools have closed for summer by then, so the app starts showing the new year's calendar from that date.
2. Calendars & Data
How often is calendar data updated? +
A school's calendar is read from its website
once, when the first parent adds that school. After that it is not re-read automatically — so pulling to refresh will not find newer dates, it only reloads what we already hold. A calendar changes after that in one of two ways: the school publishes updated dates through the Scholly school portal, or our team corrects them against the school's official calendar. If a date looks wrong,
tell us and we will check it.
What does "AI-generated" mean on a calendar? +
When Scholly can't find a machine-readable calendar, it uses AI to extract dates from the school's PDF or web page. AI-generated calendars are labelled so you know to verify important dates with your school directly.
What does "Verified" mean on a calendar? +
Verified calendars have been reviewed and confirmed by the Scholly team against the school's official source. They are more reliable than AI-generated calendars, but we still recommend checking with your school for any last-minute changes.
3. Account & Security
Is my data stored securely? +
Yes. All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS, and your account, children and events are stored in an encrypted database in
Amsterdam, in the EU. A few supporting services — app store payments, push notification delivery and the AI that reads school calendars — run outside the EU and receive only the limited data they need, under EU-approved
Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). We do not sell your data to third parties. See our
Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I reset my password? +
On the login screen, tap Forgot Password. Enter your email address and we'll send you a 6-digit reset code. The code expires after 15 minutes.
How do I delete my account? +
Go to
Profile → Support → Delete Account in the app, or email
support@schollyapp.com and we will permanently delete your account and all associated data within 30 days in accordance with GDPR.
